Genome was formed in January 2007 by
Professor Howard Cuckle to offer screening tests previously
carried out by Leeds Antenatal Screening Service (LASS)
since 1991. Professor Cuckle is a world leader in screening
research. As soon as a new technique has been established,
it is incorporated into the Genome service. Currently, the
focus is on innovative ultrasound methods in Down's syndrome
screening including measurement of the fetal nose and fetal
cardiac blood flow. In addition, new blood tests that can
be used from 8 weeks gestation are under investigation.
The collaboration of
Leeds Ultrasound Screening Service and
Genome provides the public with a direct access, one-stop
facility to a range of screening, ultrasound and non
pregnancy services. |
